(Fill in the Blank) Can’t Help Me.

I was reading my devotion from this morning that took me into Psalm 1:2

But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.” (NLT)

I never liked the word meditate. When I hear it I think of Kung Fu Panda sitting in a cave trying to catch a droplet of water and then put it on a flower to be added to a small pond.

That’s boring to me. Why would I want to sit around in complete silence muttering “uhmmm…?”

When it comes to relationship with Christ, I want a church with the best speaker and the best worship band. One that serves coffee that you can take into the main sanctuary and let it rest in a cup holder while I relax in a comfy pew/seat with my iPad taking notes and using the Bible App.

Then I realized that (fill in the blank)can’t help me.

But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” (NLT)

Psalm 1:2-3. Just to be with God (reading his word) and knowing (thinking, understanding, meditating whatever you want to call it) what he is saying is going to be the thing that CAN help me. Like a tree planted along the riverbank, I’ll bear fruit.
