Hope First

Greg Laurie once said;
“Man can live forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for one second without hope!”
I heard this on the radio many years ago that has stuck with me.

You may have those quotes or sayings that have stuck with you throughout life. Words of wisdom from a father or a grandmother can have a lasting impact on a person. Words from a friend or loved one with a negative impact can do the same.

Our lives are lived, not to motivational words, but where we find our hope. You can share a beautiful truth with a person and they can dump all over it. Their hope is tied to pessimism.

Is it strange to live with hope in 2020? Of all the things that we have seen you would think that we would be the Hopeless Generation. But as people in Christ, we can stand tall and not shaken.

This is why 3030Bible is here. To put into practice putting hope first. To remember the hope we have. To take 30 minutes of our day to be washed by the Word of God.

Even myself, after getting back late last night from an out of town trip, I woke up this morning wanting to clean first, to put stuff away, to do anything that wasn’t putting God first. Do you have to do it as the first thing? No, of course not. I want you to be intentional and take the 30 minutes when it’ll be the most beneficial to you. Although I know for me if it isn’t first it’s unlikely that it will be done.

Today, as we kick off the first installment of 3030Bible, rest on these scriptures and let them mold you.

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 1 Peter 1:13

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, Ephesians 1:18

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish. Psalm 9:18

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
