No Other Gospel.

I travelled to a Christian bookstore recently to purchase a bible surprise gift for my wife. Her bible that she had been using fell apart plus our 16 month old son got his hands on it and tore a few pages out. Which ones, I do not know, probably the good ones. But as I walked into the store I felt something odd about it. I shrugged it off and just guessed it as an odd chill. But now that I think about it and replay my experience in this large Christian bookstore chain, I realized something. There were two-ten foot wide, bookcases with 5 rows with different bibles on it, plus a quarter of a wall dedicated also to bibles. This included all children, teen, adult, study, and other language bibles.

The rest of the store were books upon books upon books of authors that have written Christ and Christian themed books.

Later that evening, my wife and I played “church” since we both missed the morning and I read this passage from Galatians 1

I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. (6-7)

I have fully read two of the four gospels, Romans, James, and Ephesians for a grand total of 5 out of 66 books. I own…guesstimating…probably around 11 bibles all different translations.

I have also read 23 books that are Christian themed.

To me that is an issue. Maybe you’re like me. You have a problem so you turn to a Francis Chan, a Max Lucado, or a Beth Moore. You need a biblical opinion from a famous author. Nothing against them. They’re great it’s just…

Why not get the opinion from the author of life?

That’s what bothers me. Because it’s exactly what I do. I go to the earthly guy that has done nothing for me and has cost me $19.95 instead of the heavenly “guy” who’s done everything for me and yet has cost me nothing.

Strange.
